Alma Assemblage 1, Extra Brut Franciacorta, Bellavista

Franciacorta, Lombardy, Italy

A wine that hums with quiet precision and effortless poise, Alma Assemblage 1 is Bellavista’s statement of intent, a blend that captures the rhythm, purity, and luminosity of Franciacorta itself. Pale straw with fine, streaming bubbles, it opens in a cascade of Mediterranean florals, citrus zest, and crushed stone. The palate is taut and focused, balancing the bright energy of Chardonnay with the fine tension of Pinot Nero and the lift of Pinot Bianco. Silken yet vibrant, it moves with grace from lemon and white peach to a long, mineral finish that shimmers with saline freshness and understated depth.

For when: you want to raise a glass to craft, not coincidence.
Pairs with: scallop carpaccio, saffron arancini, or a perfect Friday evening.

Sourced from 60 vineyards across the estate’s finest slopes, Favento, Uccellanda, Rocchetta and beyond, this meticulous cuvée draws on reserve wines spanning 2014 to 2020. Aged 30 months on lees and crafted using the traditional method, it’s a mosaic of vintages and terroirs woven together with Bellavista’s signature finesse. Alma Assemblage 1 is not just a sparkling wine, it’s an ode to continuity, artistry, and the enduring beauty of Italian precision.

Founded in 1977 by the Moretti family, the Bellavista estate, which translates as ‘Beautiful View’, extends over 207 hectares of stunning land in Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta. Vittorio Moretti has always had a deep affection for the land. Long standing memories of carefree childhood summers spent with his grandparents in the countryside resurfaced many years later, when he decided to turn his hand to winemaking. In the beginning it was just a few hectares, a family home and an adjacent winery, with the desire to make good wine to share with friends. Fast-forward to today and the winery produces 1,500,000 bottles a year, according to organic viticulture principles. Franciacorta's unique terroir is nestled between the pre-Alps and Lake Iseo, and benefits from glacial soils and a mild, breezy climate ideal for grape growing. The epitome of Italian style, each cuvée beautifully showcases the essence of Franciacorta.

The grapes undergo a slow and soft mechanical pressing in Coquard presses followed by decanting at cool temperatures. Fermentation of free run, 1st and 2nd pressed juice takes place using inoculated yeasts in stainless steel at between 15°C and 18°C and partly in barrel between 23°C and 28°C (around 32%), then matured for 6/7 months. The assemblage is created followed by vinification using the traditional method with second fermentation in the bottle, left on lees for around 30 months. Reserve wines used: Chardonnay 2014, 2019, 2020, Pinot Nero 2019, 2020.
