2025 Los Tros Chenin Blanc, Marras
Swartland, Western Cape, South Africa
Granite Morning
Bright, textured and effortlessly refreshing, Los Tros opens with yellow peach, apricot and ripe pear, lifted by citrus and a subtle stony note. The palate is dry and medium-bodied, with lively acidity running through generous stone fruit and a gentle roundness from time on the lees. It feels generous without becoming broad, mineral without becoming austere, finishing clean, saline and wonderfully moreish.
This is Chenin Blanc with genuine Swartland character. There is plenty of ripe fruit, but the granite-grown freshness keeps everything precise and energetic. It is easy to enjoy on its own, yet has enough texture and substance to work brilliantly at the table.
For when: You want something refreshing, but with more character than the usual crowd-pleaser.
Pairs with: Grilled chicken, seafood pasta, grilled prawns, white fish, creamy vegetable dishes or a gently spiced curry.
Los Tros comes from dry-farmed bush vines rooted deeply in the decomposed granite soils of Paardeberg. The demanding conditions produce small quantities of concentrated fruit, while cool morning harvesting and careful cellar work preserve Chenin Blanc’s natural freshness and detail.
