Rather than blending across regions, Kistler bottles single vineyard Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs that highlight subtle but important differences in soil, exposure, and climate. In Carneros, Hyde Vineyard delivers mineral tension and oyster shell salinity, while Hudson Vineyard offers depth and savoury complexity. Moving toward Sonoma Valley and Sonoma Mountain, Durell Vineyard shows layered richness framed by marine loam and volcanic influences, and McCrea Vineyard brings floral lift and a chalk-edged precision. In the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast overlap, Gold Ridge sandy loam soils define Dutton Ranch, bottled since 1979, offering energy and structure, while Vine Hill, planted on pure sand, gives brightness and fine mineral drive. From a specific block within it, Cuvée Cathleen is bottled separately in exceptional vintages, representing the most complete and profound expression of the estate’s mountain fruit. The Pinot Noir programme is equally precise, built around heritage selections and bottled by vineyard. Laguna Ridge produces both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, translating sandstone and sediment soils into concentrated yet finely structured wines. Silver Belt Vineyard is the source of Cuvée Natalie Pinot Noir, prized for its iron rich soils and lifted red berry aromatics.
