2025 Falanghina del Sannio 'Serrocielo', Feudi di San Gregorio

Sannio, Campania, Italy

Citrus Sky

White peach, lime zest and crisp pear rise from the glass, joined by delicate white blossom, fresh herbs and a touch of orange peel. A subtle chalky note brings definition, giving this southern Italian white a bright, elegant personality.

Dry, zesty and wonderfully refreshing, with juicy orchard fruit, lively acidity and a gentle creaminess from time on the lees. The finish is clean, saline and lightly flinty, combining Falanghina’s easy charm with enough texture and mineral detail to make every glass interesting.

For when: The seafood has arrived and the evening still feels full of sunshine.

Pairs with: Spaghetti alle vongole, grilled prawns, seafood risotto, baked sea bass, mozzarella di bufala or courgette fritters.

Serrocielo belongs to Feudi di San Gregorio’s Selezioni range and is made from carefully selected Falanghina grown in the hills of Sannio. It takes this naturally expressive Campanian grape beyond simple refreshment, adding greater texture, precision and mineral character while retaining its irresistible drinkability.

Founded in 1986 and based at Sorbo Serpico in Irpinia, Feudi di San Gregorio has played a defining role in the modern revival of Campanian wine. The estate recognised early that southern Italy’s native grapes could produce distinctive, world-class wines when matched with careful vineyard selection and precise winemaking.

Its work centres on the historic varieties of Campania, particularly Aglianico, Fiano, Greco and Falanghina. Rather than treating the region as a single landscape, Feudi explores the differences between its hills, soils and local climates, selecting fruit to preserve the individual character of each grape and place. Serrocielo brings this approach to Falanghina from Sannio, where elevated vineyards and limestone-influenced soils encourage freshness, fragrance and mineral definition.

Feudi di San Gregorio combines regional tradition with a strikingly contemporary identity. Its winery, bottles and labels reflect a long relationship with art and design, while its vineyard research helps protect old vines and local genetic diversity. The company is also a certified B Corporation, placing environmental and social responsibility alongside wine quality. For customers, it offers a dependable introduction to Campania through wines that are polished and accessible without losing their southern Italian identity.

Serrocielo is made from 100% Falanghina selected from well-suited vineyards in the Falanghina del Sannio DOC, around Benevento in Campania. The area’s altitude and limestone-rich loam soils help the grapes retain acidity while developing ripe citrus, white-fruit and floral character.

The wine is vinified without oak to preserve Falanghina’s natural freshness and aromatic clarity. It matures for around five months in stainless-steel tanks, remaining in contact with its fine lees throughout. Regular bâtonnage keeps the lees in suspension, adding a gentle creaminess and greater texture without compromising the wine’s bright, saline finish.

Alcohol: 12.5%. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
