2024 Meltwater Sauvignon Blanc, Corofin Winery

Marlborough, New Zealand

This is Marlborough Sauvignon with purity, texture and a little more grown-up restraint. Lime zest, grapefruit, white peach and passionfruit lift from the glass, followed by nettle, fresh herbs, wet stone and a clean mineral edge. It has the brightness people love from Marlborough, but the style is more precise and quietly layered than the usual tropical rush.

On the palate, it is dry, crisp and beautifully drinkable, with citrus energy, stone-fruit softness and a gentle lees-built texture through the middle. Wild fermentation and time on lees give it shape and interest without blurring the freshness. A brilliant Sauvignon for anyone who wants the Marlborough snap, but with more polish, balance and food appeal.

For when
A crisp white needs a little more class.

Pairs with
Oysters, grilled prawns, goat’s cheese, asparagus, sushi, Thai herb salads, lemon roast chicken, fish tacos or fresh tomato and basil salad.

Meltwater is Corofin’s take on modern Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc: organic, small-batch and focused on purity rather than volume. Named after the glacial meltwaters that once shaped the valleys below Marlborough’s high country, it captures a fresher, more textural side of the region. This is Sauvignon with all the refreshment you want, but made with the same thoughtful, site-sensitive approach that has made Corofin such an exciting name.

Corofin is the artisan Marlborough project of Mike and Anna Paterson, created to explore the region through small-batch, site-focused wines. Rather than chasing fruit intensity alone, Corofin is built around a quieter idea: wines that show place, season and vineyard detail with clarity.

The name has family meaning, taken from Corofin in County Clare, Ireland, where Mike Paterson’s family lived before emigrating to New Zealand. That personal connection sits neatly beside the winery’s very hands-on approach. Corofin works closely with selected growers across Marlborough, focusing on carefully farmed sites, small parcels and wines made with restraint.

The estate is especially admired for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from distinctive Marlborough vineyards, but Meltwater brings the same mindset to Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2024 Meltwater Sauvignon Blanc is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. Fruit comes from low-cropping, certified-organic blocks in the central Wairau Valley and Omaka Valley, two areas that help bring together ripe citrus, stone fruit, freshness and mineral definition.

The grapes were hand-harvested and gently pressed, then fermented with wild yeasts in small stainless steel tanks. The wine spent eight months on lees in tank, building texture and balance while keeping the style clean, dry and bright.
