2023 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, Cape Point Vineyards

Cape Town Region, South Africa

Salted Silk

This is Sauvignon Blanc with Cape coastline written all over it. Lemon, lime and ripe nectarine lead the nose, followed by elderflower, orange blossom, cardamom, white pepper and a cool sea-spray note. It has the freshness you expect from Sauvignon, but the Reserve style brings more texture, spice and depth than the everyday version.

On the palate, it is crisp, dry and richly shaped, with tangy citrus, ripe stone fruit and a broad, creamy mouthfeel from time on lees. The finish is long, mineral, and gently saline, giving the wine real poise and food appeal. A brilliant bottle for anyone who loves Loire Sauvignon, but wants more coastal texture and South African character.

For when
Seafood needs a white with texture and lift.

Pairs with
Oysters, grilled prawns, scallops, line-caught fish, crayfish, sushi, goat’s cheese, asparagus risotto or lemon roast chicken.

Cape Point Vineyards sits above Noordhoek on the Cape Peninsula, where cool Atlantic breezes and mountain soils help produce some of South Africa’s most distinctive Sauvignon Blanc. The Reserve is a step up in weight and complexity, bringing together sea-facing fruit, careful barrel work and extended lees ageing. It is bright, coastal and beautifully textured, with enough freshness for immediate pleasure and enough structure to make it seriously interesting.

Cape Point Vineyards is one of South Africa’s great coastal white-wine specialists, based in Noordhoek on the Cape Peninsula. Set close to the Atlantic Ocean, with views over the sea and surrounding mountains, the estate has become strongly associated with cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc and maritime freshness.

The vineyards benefit from ocean breezes, slower ripening conditions and mineral-rich soils, all of which help preserve acidity while building aromatic complexity. This coastal influence gives the wines their signature feel: citrus-driven, saline, textured and precise rather than overtly tropical.

Founded in the late 1990s, Cape Point Vineyards helped put this dramatic corner of the Cape on the fine-wine map. The estate is especially trusted for Sauvignon Blanc, from crisp, expressive releases to more serious barrel-aged Reserve styles. For customers, the appeal is clear: these are polished South African whites with freshness, texture and a genuine sense of place, offering a distinctive alternative to both New Zealand Sauvignon and Loire classics.

The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve is a blend of 96% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Sémillon from Cape Town, South Africa. Fruit is selected from sea-facing vineyard parcels on the estate, where cooling maritime breezes and decomposed granite soils help shape the wine’s mineral edge and fresh coastal profile.

The grapes were hand-picked in the early morning and whole-bunch pressed. The juice was naturally settled before fermentation, with the wine then spending 16 months on its fermentation lees in old French oak. This extended lees ageing adds texture, depth and a creamy feel without overwhelming the citrus and mineral character of the fruit.
