Steeped in rich family history, Raymond vineyards can trace its origins in winemaking back to the days of the ‘old’ Napa Valley.   Founded in 1970, Raymond Vineyards produces high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay

Luminous and beautifully layered, this Carneros Chardonnay opens with ripe pear, honeydew melon and golden apple, lifted by Meyer lemon, grapefruit and acacia blossom. Brioche, toasted almond and delicate vanilla sit beneath the fruit, bringing richness and complexity without overwhelming its cool-climate freshness.

Silky and generous on the palate, with lemon cream, peach and orchard fruit carried by bright acidity and a fine mineral thread. Partial malolactic fermentation adds a rounded, gently creamy texture, while carefully judged French oak brings hazelnut, toast and subtle spice. Rich without becoming heavy, it combines Californian generosity with a more restrained, elegant sense of shape.

For when: You want California richness, but still want the second glass.

Pairs with: Roast chicken, grilled salmon, lobster, scallops, creamy mushroom pasta or mature Comté.

The fruit comes from eight vineyards across Carneros, six on the Napa side and two in Sonoma. Cool maritime breezes and morning fog extend the growing season, preserving acidity as the grapes develop flavour and texture. Sandstone, shale and clay-based soils contribute a balance of aromatic lift, mineral structure and generous mouthfeel

Raymond Vineyards, founded in 1970, is one of the Napa Valley’s pioneering estates. The Raymond family arrived in Napa in 1933 and have become deeply connected to the valley’s winemaking origins. In 1970, they established a 36-hectare estate in Rutherford, which now comprises 121 hectares in Rutherford, St. Helena and Jameson Canyon. Raymond’s Rutherford and St. Helena estate vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic, and 100% of the winery’s power comes from renewable solar energy. Five generations of the Raymond family have created a Napa icon, with an enduring reputation for elegant wines with a beautiful balance of finesse, opulence and complexity.

The 2023 Chardonnay was sourced from eight vineyards across Carneros and harvested between 7 and 25 October. Six vineyards were located in Napa Carneros, with two on the Sonoma side contributing additional richness and texture.

Most of the juice was barrel fermented, while approximately 12% fermented in a concrete egg to preserve freshness and enhance texture. Maturation took place predominantly in French oak, with around one-fifth new barrels. Partial malolactic fermentation was limited to 52%, building creaminess and breadth while retaining the wine’s bright acidity and citrus-driven energy.
