2022 'Dogajolo' Toscana Rosso, Carpineto
Tuscany, Italy
Carpineto’s 2022 Dogajolo is a baby Super Tuscan with a very easy charm: dark cherry, red plum, blackberry and violet, wrapped in coffee, vanilla, spice and a gentle savoury warmth. It brings together the freshness of Sangiovese with the rounder, darker depth of Cabernet Sauvignon, giving a wine that feels generous without becoming heavy.
On the palate, it is full-flavoured, smooth and nicely balanced, with ripe cherry fruit, soft tannins and a polished touch of oak. The finish is warm, spicy and satisfyingly mellow, making this a brilliant everyday Tuscan red with just enough structure and style to feel like more of an occasion.
For when
Pasta night needs a bottle with a little Super Tuscan swagger.
Pairs with
Tomato pasta, pizza, lasagne, grilled sausages, roast chicken, lamb chops, meatballs, aubergine parmigiana or mature pecorino.
Carpineto was founded in 1967 by the Sacchet and Zaccheo families, who helped shape the modern Tuscan wine renaissance with reds built on quality, character and regional identity. Dogajolo takes its name from “doga”, the wooden stave used in oak casks, a fitting nod for a wine that combines youthful fruit with soft oak polish. Today, Carpineto works across some of Tuscany’s most important wine areas, bringing the same sense of elegance and reliability to this approachable, modern classic.
