Heartland Wines is a premium, independent producer located in the heart of Langhorne Creek, South Australia, one of the country’s oldest and most underappreciated wine regions. Founded in the early 2000s by a passionate collective of friends, including acclaimed winemaker Ben Glaetzer, Heartland was born from a shared belief in the exceptional potential of Langhorne Creek’s fruit and a desire to craft wines of balance, integrity, and character.

The region’s cooling maritime influence from nearby Lake Alexandrina and the Southern Ocean allows for a long, even ripening season, ideal for preserving freshness and aromatics in the fruit. Combined with deep, fertile alluvial soils and a legacy of old vines, some more than a century old, Langhorne Creek offers a unique terroir that Heartland captures with clarity and precision.

Heartland’s winemaking philosophy centres on showcasing the pure expression of place, with a focus on classic Australian varietals like Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Dolcetto, often blended or vinified in innovative ways.

The Shiraz was de-stemmed, crushed and pumped over twice a day for ten days in cool ferment tanks. The wine was matured in older oak barrels for twelve months prior to bottling.
