2022 10X Chardonnay, Ten Minutes By Tractor
Mornington Peninsula, Australia
This cracking cool climate Chardonnay by cult Mornington Peninsula winery, Ten Minutes by Tractor, opens with floral, white flower and lime citrus notes that lift from the glass, an enticing entree to lovely sweet citrus fruit on the front palate and a burst of white peach and nectarine. This wine has great concentration and a fine, long, mineral, and textured finish.
For when: the light’s low, the food’s good, and the night feels unhurried.
Pairs with: roast chicken, creamy pasta, or seared scallops with lemon butter.
If this wine were a feeling, it’d be calm confidence wrapped in silk.
Ten Minutes by Tractor’s 10X range captures the essence of the Peninsula — hand-picked fruit from multiple vineyards, wild fermentation, and gentle oak ageing to highlight texture over weight. The 2022 vintage is one of their finest yet, uniting Chardonnay purity with understated sophistication.

Ten Minutes by Tractor started in 1997 with three vineyards in Main Ridge, all ten minutes by tractor apart. Over the past 18 years, Martin and Karen Spedding have added four more vineyards that have a diverse range of microclimates from across the Mornington Peninsula. Each of these vineyard sites features different aspects, slopes, soils, altitude and influence of the cool maritime breezes that wind their way through the valleys.
This terroir and sense of place explain everything about their wines. Cool places. Beautiful places. Places that are defined by the wines they make and which can seem worlds apart. The refinement and vibrant acidity of Wallis; the elegance and poise of McCutcheon; the alluring aromatics and fine structure of Judd; the power and fruit purity of Coolart Road.
Each vineyard is intimately linked to its place. These little differences; in soil, slope, aspects and all the other things that make their vineyards distinct mean that while they may be ten minutes by tractor from each other, they are a world apart.
Whole bunched pressed to tank where the juice was cold settled for 48 hours. Juice was then racked taking light fluffly lees and transferred to oak for wild ferment after 11 months of oak maturation, bottled unfined and filtered.
Partial malolactic fermentation (60%)
