2020 The Holy Trinity GSM, Grant Burge
Barossa Valley, Australia
Lifted violet and lavender bring an unexpectedly fragrant opening, followed by blackberry, ripe plum and dark cherry. Ginger biscuit, mint, mocha and black spice gradually emerge, giving this deep, generous Barossa red a distinctive aromatic lift.
Medium to full-bodied, with concentrated dark fruit held by silky, mouth-coating tannins. Bitter chocolate, tobacco and warming spice add savoury depth, while a fresh line keeps the richness controlled and carries everything into a long, clean finish. Powerful without becoming heavy, this is a polished, immediately appealing GSM with enough structure to age confidently.
For when: The table is full, and something slow-cooked is leaving the oven.
Pairs with: Roast duck, barbecue beef ribs, lamb shoulder, braised beef pasta or a richly spiced cauliflower steak.
The Holy Trinity is one of Grant Burge’s most established Barossa blends, bringing together three traditional southern Rhône varieties. Grenache supplies fragrance and juicy fruit, Shiraz adds depth and richness, while Mourvèdre contributes savoury spice and structure.
