2018 Chiaroscuro, Seresin

Aromatic, textured and full of intrigue, Chiaroscuro lives beautifully up to its name, all light, shade and shifting detail. Orange peel, lime, bergamot and green apple rise from the glass, with a delicate floral lift and a faint spicy whisper from Gewürztraminer. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, broad enough to feel generous, then drawn back into focus by crisp acidity and a clean, dry finish.   It is a blend of Riesling 55%, Pinot Gris 37%, Gewürztraminer 8%.

For when: you want a white wine with personality, perfume and a little quiet drama.

Pairs with: Thai salads, dim sum, sushi, grilled prawns, spiced pork, roast squash or aromatic herb dishes.

Seresin Estate was founded by New Zealand cinematographer Michael Seresin in Marlborough, bringing an old-world sensibility to a new-world landscape.
