2008 Pinot Noir, Eldridge Estate

Mornington Peninsula, Australia

Red Hill Silk

Eldridge Estate’s 2008 Pinot Noir is mature Mornington Peninsula Pinot in a graceful, delicate register. Now fully evolved, it shows red cherry, wild strawberry, redcurrant, dried rose, soft spice, underbrush and a gentle savoury note, with the fruit still vivid but beautifully softened by time.

On the palate, it is fine, silky and persistent, with red berry brightness, a little plum flesh and a cool, earthy thread running through the finish. This is not a heavy Pinot, but a poised and elegant one, shaped by age into something calm, fragrant and quietly compelling. Drink now, ideally with a gentle decant for sediment.

For when
A relaxed dinner needs mature Pinot with charm, delicacy and a little quiet theatre.

Pairs with
Roast duck, mushroom risotto, pork loin, game birds, grilled salmon, beetroot tart, lentils with herbs or soft washed-rind cheese.

Eldridge Estate is one of Red Hill’s distinctive cool-climate sites, perched high on the Mornington Peninsula with north-facing vines rooted in red clay volcanic loam. Family-owned and focused on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Gamay, the estate has built its reputation on site-driven wines of fragrance, texture and finesse. This mature 2008 captures exactly that appeal: a small, characterful vineyard speaking softly but clearly.
