2004 Chardonnay, Dry River
Martinborough, New Zealand
The Martinborough Timepiece
A rare mature New Zealand Chardonnay from one of Martinborough’s most quietly revered names. Now beautifully evolved, it opens with honeyed peach, lemon peel and baked apple, layered with toast, almond, smoke and a savoury, mealy richness. The palate is textured and graceful, with the fruit softened by age but still carried by citrus freshness and a long, smoky finish.
For when
You want a mature white with quiet confidence, depth and a story to tell.
Pairs with
Roast chicken, turbot with butter sauce, mushroom risotto, pork belly, aged cheddar or truffle dishes.
Dry River is one of Martinborough’s pioneering wineries, founded in 1979 on the Martinborough Terrace. The estate has built a devoted following for precise, age-worthy wines with a strong sense of place, offered in small quantities and admired for their patience, individuality and quiet New Zealand intensity.
