Zorzal
Some wineries chase power. Others chase polish. Zorzal chases something far more interesting: purity.
High up in Gualtallary in the Uco Valley, at around 1,350 metres above sea level, Zorzal sits in one of the most exciting, talked-about vineyard areas in Argentina. Up here, the air is thinner, the sun is intense, the nights are cold, and the soils are packed with limestone and stones. It is a place where vines struggle, and that struggle is exactly what makes the wines so compelling.
Founded by the Michelini brothers, two of the most respected and forward-thinking names in modern Argentinian wine, Zorzal has built its reputation on doing less, not more. Their winemaking is all about minimal intervention and constant quiet innovation. Concrete eggs, amphorae, staggered harvests, and micro vinifications are all used in the pursuit of one goal: to let the terroir speak with clarity and precision.
In the cellar, patience is just as important as technique. Many wines rest in used barrels, avoiding heavy wood influence and instead gaining finesse, texture, and elegance. The focus is always on freshness, minerality, and the natural character of Gualtallary, fruit before wood, energy before weight, place before winemaking tricks.
The result is wines that feel alive. Fresh, mineral, precise, and beautifully drinkable, but with a quiet intensity that keeps you going back for another glass.
Here are the bottles that capture that mountain energy.
