Croser Adelaide Hills Sparkling Rose Brut, Petaluma

Adelaide Hills, Australia

This is sparkling rosé with a light touch and a very good sense of occasion: bright, charming and effortlessly drinkable. Made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it opens with wild strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate and red cherry, followed by fresh nectarine, citrus peel and a soft hint of almond brioche. The bubbles are fine, the fruit is lifted, and the whole thing feels fresh rather than frivolous.

The palate is creamy and lively, with ripe strawberry and cherry fruit carried by crisp Adelaide Hills acidity. There is just enough brioche and biscuit character to give it polish, but the mood stays bright, clean and refreshing. It finishes with red berries, citrus, a gentle savoury note and that lovely dry, sparkling snap that makes the next glass feel inevitable.

For when you want pink fizz with polish, freshness and no unnecessary fuss.
Pairs with smoked salmon blinis, crab salad, prawns, sushi, soft cheeses, strawberries, or a very good picnic.
If this wine were… a moment, it would be golden-hour glasses on the terrace, just as the conversation starts to sparkle.

Croser is one of Australia’s benchmark sparkling wine names, founded by Brian Croser as an extension of Petaluma, with its first vintage released in 1987. Its philosophy was built on the belief that Piccadilly Valley in the cool Adelaide Hills could produce sparkling wine to rival Champagne, using traditional-method winemaking, cool-climate viticulture and Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as the defining grapes. The NV Sparkling Rosé carries that spirit in a bright, approachable style, with elegant strawberry, cherry, brioche and nectarine notes, a creamy palate, crisp acidity and a fine bead.

Croser is one of Australia’s benchmark sparkling wine names, born from the pioneering vision of Brian Croser and the Petaluma story. Founded as an extension of Petaluma Wines, Croser released its first vintage in 1987 with a clear ambition: to prove that the cool, elevated Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills could produce traditional-method sparkling wine with finesse, freshness and complexity.

The wines are built around the classic sparkling partnership of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, sourced from cool-climate Adelaide Hills vineyards and crafted using the traditional method. This approach, with secondary fermentation and ageing in bottle, gives Croser its fine bubbles, creamy texture, layered orchard fruit, citrus brightness and subtle biscuit complexity. It is a style that looks to Champagne for technique, but speaks clearly of the Adelaide Hills in its lift, clarity and cool-climate precision.

Petaluma itself was founded in 1976 and became one of the key names in modern Australian wine, built on the idea of matching the right grape to the right region. Croser carries that same philosophy into sparkling wine: site-led, carefully made and refreshingly elegant. Whether in the Brut or Sparkling Rosé, these are wines designed for brightness, polish and effortless celebration, showing why Croser remains such an important name in Australian sparkling.

The Pinot Noir is whole bunch pressed or crushed with free run juice kept separate. After settling the juice is fermented in a combination of 80% stainless steel, with 20% fermented in old oak barriques for added complexity. In addition to this a small portion of approximately one tonne is fermented on skins and added in at blending to deliver a wine with a delicate pink hue. Post blending and tirage the rose is aged in bottle on yeast for at least 12 months. During disgorging a small amount of Pinot Noir is combined with the dosage liqueur to balance the wines natural acidity and enhance the pink intensity. Croser NV Rose has a residual sugar of 11gpl which balances the high natural acidity of this wine.
