Croser Adelaide Hills Sparkling Rose Brut, Petaluma
Adelaide Hills, Australia
This is sparkling rosé with a light touch and a very good sense of occasion: bright, charming and effortlessly drinkable. Made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it opens with wild strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate and red cherry, followed by fresh nectarine, citrus peel and a soft hint of almond brioche. The bubbles are fine, the fruit is lifted, and the whole thing feels fresh rather than frivolous.
The palate is creamy and lively, with ripe strawberry and cherry fruit carried by crisp Adelaide Hills acidity. There is just enough brioche and biscuit character to give it polish, but the mood stays bright, clean and refreshing. It finishes with red berries, citrus, a gentle savoury note and that lovely dry, sparkling snap that makes the next glass feel inevitable.
For when you want pink fizz with polish, freshness and no unnecessary fuss.
Pairs with smoked salmon blinis, crab salad, prawns, sushi, soft cheeses, strawberries, or a very good picnic.
If this wine were… a moment, it would be golden-hour glasses on the terrace, just as the conversation starts to sparkle.
Croser is one of Australia’s benchmark sparkling wine names, founded by Brian Croser as an extension of Petaluma, with its first vintage released in 1987. Its philosophy was built on the belief that Piccadilly Valley in the cool Adelaide Hills could produce sparkling wine to rival Champagne, using traditional-method winemaking, cool-climate viticulture and Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as the defining grapes. The NV Sparkling Rosé carries that spirit in a bright, approachable style, with elegant strawberry, cherry, brioche and nectarine notes, a creamy palate, crisp acidity and a fine bead.
