2025 Solis Lumen Rosé (Grenache/Cinsault), Olivier Coste
Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Southern French Daylight
Pale, bright and irresistibly easy to like, Solis Lumen Rosé feels like the south of France in its most relaxed and appealing mood. Made from 80% Grenache and 20% Cinsault, the 2025 opens with citrus, pear and a soft hint of pineapple, before moving into a fresher red-fruited register of raspberry, wild strawberry and rose petal. There is a lovely lightness to it, but not at the expense of flavour. The palate is crisp and graceful, with delicate berry fruit, gentle citrus lift and a fine mineral thread that keeps everything clean, dry and mouthwatering. It is the kind of rosé that slips effortlessly between aperitif and table, all charm, freshness and sunlit ease.
For when: lunch drifts into the afternoon, and no one is in any rush to leave.
Pairs with: grilled prawns, niçoise salad, charcuterie, or simply something salty under blue skies.
If this wine were a place: a shaded terrace in the Languedoc, with pale stone, cold glasses and the scent of summer in the air.
Olivier Coste works in the Languedoc and draws on a long family winegrowing history in the region. For Solis Lumen Rosé, the fruit is organically grown in IGP Pays d’Oc, harvested at night to preserve freshness, then direct-pressed and fermented at cool temperatures before ageing in stainless steel. That gentle, freshness-first approach suits the wine perfectly, allowing the bright fruit and easy Mediterranean character to stay front and centre.
