2025 Miraflors Rosé, Domaine Lafage
Côtes Catalanes, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Sea Spray & Sunlight
Pale, juicy and effortlessly seductive, Miraflors is one of those rosés that seems to carry the Mediterranean in every glass. Wild strawberry, citrus and orange peel rise first, followed by a gentle iodine note and a stony, saline freshness that gives the wine real lift and identity. The palate is bright and racy, with delicate red fruit, crisp acidity and a lovely mineral thread running right through it, keeping everything dry, mouthwatering and wonderfully refined. There is charm here in abundance, but also real precision, making it feel more polished than playful, and all the more irresistible for it. The 2025 is a blend of Grenache Gris, Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre, from IGP Côtes Catalanes.
For when: lunch starts late, the sea air is warm, and one bottle turns into two without anyone noticing.
Pairs with: grilled prawns, sushi, summer vegetables, or simply something salty under blue skies.
If this wine were a place: a sun-bleached terrace above the Mediterranean, with warm stone underfoot and a breeze carrying citrus and salt.
Domaine Lafage lies between Perpignan and the Spanish border in Côtes Catalanes, where Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage have built one of southern France’s most admired estates. Miraflors comes from coastal vineyards planted on galets roulés, the rounded stones that store warmth by day while the nearby sea helps preserve freshness, giving the wine its signature mix of ripe fruit and maritime tension. It is this meeting of sun, stone and sea that makes Miraflors feel so complete, a rosé with all the ease of the south, but with real shape and character.
