2025 L'Excellence Rosé, Château Saint-Maur
Provence, France
Provence, Perfected
Pale, poised and beautifully refined, L’Excellence Rosé feels every bit like a flagship. Wild citrus and stone fruits open the wine with brightness and clarity, while a cool mineral thread gives it shape from the outset. The palate is elegant and beautifully refreshing, gliding between ripe orchard fruit, subtle citrus lift and a finely tuned freshness that keeps everything taut and graceful. There is real polish here, but nothing showy, just a rosé of precision, finesse and quiet confidence, finishing long, clean and stonily mineral.
For when: the table is immaculate, the sun is dropping lower, and the rosé needs to feel every bit as special as the setting.
Pairs with: salmon tartare, grilled prawns, lemony chicken, fine vegetable dishes, or simply something elegant in the late afternoon light.
If this wine were a place: a pale stone terrace above the Riviera, with sea air drifting through and the last light catching the glass.
Château Saint-Maur is one of Provence’s Cru Classé estates, set in Cogolin between the Massif des Maures and the Mediterranean. L’Excellence is the flagship of the estate, drawn from clay-limestone soils rich in schist and quartz, and made from a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Cabernet, Mourvèdre and Rolle. That combination of coastal Provence, complex soils and careful low-temperature winemaking gives the wine its signature style, elegant, fresh and unmistakably refined.
