2024 Soupir, Château Oumsiyat
Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
The Bekaa Valley Blush
This is Lebanese rosé with colour, lift and a lovely Mediterranean pulse. From the high-altitude Bekaa Valley, it opens with wild strawberry, cherry, peach and red berries, followed by floral notes, lime zest, soft herbs and a gentle aniseed spice. It is delicate in colour but not short on character, with Syrah, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon giving both fragrance and shape.
The palate is dry, crisp and refreshing, with red berry fruit, citrus brightness and a clean, stylish finish. There is a sunlit warmth here, but also mountain freshness, making it feel bright, food-friendly and very easy to pour.
For when you want rosé with sunshine, freshness and a little Lebanese soul.
Pairs with mezze, grilled prawns, fattoush, chicken skewers, salmon, halloumi, roast peppers, aubergine, or a long lunch with too many small plates.
If this wine were… a colour, it would be copper-pink at sunset over the Bekaa Valley, warm at the edges and glowing with promise.
Château Oumsiyat is run by the Bou Sleiman family, whose wine heritage spans four generations. Joseph Bou Sleiman built a modern winery in the village of Mtein, while the family’s vineyards sit over 1,000 metres above sea level in the Bekaa Valley, between Mount Lebanon and the Anti-Lebanon Mountains. The estate combines Lebanese tradition with contemporary winemaking, producing fresh, expressive wines with a distinctly Mediterranean feel.
