2024 Shiraz, Sula Vineyards
Maharashtra, India
The Nashik Pepper Flame
This is Indian Shiraz with warmth, spice and an easy dark-fruited charm. From the Nashik Hills, it opens with ripe cherry, plum, blackberry and blueberry, followed by black pepper, smoke, dark chocolate and a gentle touch of oak. It is smooth, medium-bodied and generous without feeling heavy, with plenty of fruit and a lively peppery kick.
The palate is supple, juicy and balanced, with black fruit, cherry, smoky spice and soft tannins carrying into a lingering finish. This is Shiraz in relaxed mode: bright enough for a weekday glass, bold enough for the grill and characterful enough to remind you that Nashik is one of the most exciting wine regions to watch.
For when you want a red with sunshine, spice and easygoing Indian charm.
Pairs with lamb kebabs, chicken tikka, smoky aubergine, barbecue ribs, pepperoni pizza, mushroom ragù, spicy sausages, or a slow-cooked beef curry.
If this wine were… a flame, it would be glowing over the Nashik Hills at dusk, throwing plum, pepper and smoke into the warm evening air.
