2024 San Greg Rosato, Feudi di San Gregorio
Irpinia, Campania, Italy
Pink Irpinia Light
Pale, lifted and wonderfully poised, San Greg Rosato feels like southern Italy seen through a cooler, more refined lens. Delicate floral notes and red berry fruit lead the way, think wild raspberry, cherry and a touch of pink grapefruit, with a subtle savoury edge that keeps everything fresh and grown-up. The palate is crisp and beautifully balanced, with bright acidity, gentle texture and a clean, uplifting finish that makes the wine feel effortlessly composed rather than simply easy. There is charm here from the first sip, but also that lovely mountain freshness that gives the wine its real appeal.
For when: the table is outside, the plates are light, and the second bottle already feels likely.
Pairs with: grilled prawns, tomato salad, tuna crudo, or simply something salty in the late afternoon sun.
If this wine were a place: a breezy hillside in Campania, with pale stone, warm light and the scent of herbs in the air.
Feudi di San Gregorio is one of Campania’s benchmark producers, based in Irpinia and known for bringing precision and modern confidence to the region’s native varieties. San Greg comes from high hillside vineyards in Irpinia, reaching up towards 700 metres, where marl and calcareous soils, strong ventilation and careful hand harvesting help preserve freshness and finesse. The wine was also developed in collaboration with Bordeaux oenologist Valérie Lavigne, whose influence helps sharpen its sense of elegance and clarity, bringing an extra layer of polish to this lifted, mountain-fresh rosato.
