2024 Rose, Groot Constantia
Western Cape, South Africa
Cape Blush
Fresh, polished and wonderfully easy to fall for, the 2024 Rosé from Groot Constantia feels like summer with a little extra class. Strawberry, raspberry and melon rise first, followed by a gentle floral lift and a flicker of citrus that keeps everything bright and precise. The palate is crisp and beautifully balanced, with pure red fruit, refreshing acidity and a clean, dry finish that makes the wine feel effortlessly composed. There is charm here from the first sip, but also enough finesse to make it feel a cut above simple poolside rosé. The 2024 is a multi-varietal blend including Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
For when: the sun is out, lunch is drifting on, and the second bottle already feels inevitable.
Pairs with: grilled prawns, niçoise salad, light pasta dishes, or simply something salty in the shade.
If this wine were a place: a cool terrace above the Cape, with rosé in the glass and sea air on the breeze.
Groot Constantia is South Africa’s oldest wine estate, founded in 1685, and remains one of the Cape’s most historic names. Set in the Constantia Valley, the vineyards benefit from a cooler maritime influence that helps give the wines their freshness and poise. That sense of heritage and place comes through beautifully in this rosé, which feels modern, bright and drinkable, but still carries the quiet confidence of a great old estate.
