2024 Bone Dry Rosé, Weingut Von Buhl
Pfalz, Germany
Pink Razor.
Bright, juicy and gloriously crisp, this is rosé with a cool, clean snap to it. Wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant rise first, followed by a flicker of citrus peel and a gentle floral lift that keeps everything feeling light, fresh and finely drawn. The palate is bone dry, just as promised, with bright berry fruit, lively acidity and a sleek line of freshness that makes the wine feel wonderfully precise rather than soft or sweet. There is plenty of charm here, but also real tension, giving the wine a finish that is brisk, mouthwatering and made for another sip.
For when: the sun is out, the table is light, and the first bottle vanishes before anyone notices.
Pairs with: grilled prawns, tomato salads, charcuterie, or salty snacks in the late afternoon.
If this wine were a place: a shaded terrace in the Pfalz, with bright flowers, cold glasses and summer in full swing.
Weingut Von Buhl is one of Germany’s historic benchmark estates, based in Deidesheim in the Pfalz and known for wines that balance precision, purity and real drinking pleasure. The Bone Dry range takes a slightly more playful route, focusing less on site and more on crisp varietal expression, and for the rosé, that means Pinot Noir fruit handled with freshness firmly in mind. The grapes are destemmed, spend a short time on skins, then are gently pressed, with fermentation and maturation split between stainless steel and used barrique, giving the wine its bright fruit, dry profile and subtle textural polish.
