2023 Zinfandel, Sula Vineyards

Maharashtra, India

The Nashik Ruby Flame

This is Indian Zinfandel with juicy fruit, soft spice and a warm, easy glow. From Maharashtra’s Nashik region, it opens with red berries, blackberry, plum and cherry, followed by cinnamon, smoky spice and a gentle touch of oak. It is fruit-driven, youthful and appealing, with plenty of colour and charm in the glass.

The palate is medium-bodied, supple and smooth, with ripe berry fruit, plum, spice and soft tannins carrying into a lingering finish. It has the generosity you want from Zinfandel, but stays balanced and fresh enough to pour happily with food. Think red fruit, warm spice and relaxed Nashik sunshine.

For when you want a red with brightness, spice and easy Indian charm.
Pairs with barbecue chicken, lamb kebabs, pepperoni pizza, smoky aubergine, mushroom ragù, grilled sausages, spicy tomato pasta, or a mild curry.
If this wine were… a flame, it would be ruby-red and glowing over the Nashik Hills, warm with plum, spice and evening light.

Situated in Nashik, India's largest grape-growing region, Sula Vineyards was established in 1997 by Rajeev Samant and Kerry Damsky. They pioneered the cultivation of French grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc, first released in 2000 to wide acclaim as India’s best white wines. Sula now grows Shiraz, Zinfandel and other international varieties and is widely recognised as India’s premium wine producer. Committed to sustainability, Sula invests significantly in eco-friendly practices and supports local farming communities across Maharashtra and Karnataka, improving livelihoods and driving meaningful change in surrounding villages.

The grapes were fermented with selected yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the varietal characteristics of Zinfandel.
