The June Fire of Denizli
This is Turkish red wine with fruit, warmth and a bright sense of celebration. “Haziran” means June, and the wine carries that feeling of ripening days and long evenings beautifully. It is a blend of the indigenous Öküzgözü with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, giving plenty of red and black fruit with a subtle touch of oak.
It opens with blackberry, black plum, cherry and cassis, followed by sweet spice, vanilla, pepper, earth and a little dark chocolate. The palate is full, ripe and generous, with smooth tannins, vibrant acidity and a savoury, spicy finish. It feels polished but still full of character, a Turkish red that brings both comfort and curiosity to the table.
For when you want a generous red with a story, a little spice and a sense of discovery.
Pairs with lamb kebabs, grilled steak, beef güveç, spiced aubergine, roast peppers, mushroom stew, kofta, or a smoky mezze spread.
If this wine were… a month, it would be June in Denizli: warm stone, purple fruit, smoke from the grill and the evening just beginning.
Kuzubağ is based in Çal, Denizli, in Turkey’s inner Aegean region, where vineyards sit around 850 metres above sea level. The estate’s philosophy is rooted in respect for vine, soil and people, with a focus on expressing the character of both local and international grapes grown in the region. Its first winery production began in 2021, after years spent establishing and maturing the family vineyards.
