2021 Siblings Shiraz, Leeuwin Estate
Margaret River, Australia
Velvet Spice
Fragrant, supple and beautifully composed, this is Shiraz with a cooler, more refined rhythm than many expect. Red currant, plum and dark cherry rise first, followed by black olive, savoury spice and a touch of dark chocolate that gives the wine shape and quiet depth. The palate is mid-weight and harmonious, with plump dark fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins that keep everything polished and gently lifted. There is generosity here, certainly, but it arrives with real poise, finishing smooth, savoury and wonderfully drinkable.
For when: the food is generous, the evening is easy, and the red needs warmth without heaviness.
Pairs with: slow-roasted lamb, grilled venison, smoked brisket, or porcini mushroom dishes.
If this wine were a place: a Margaret River evening just after sunset, with spice in the air and the last warmth still held in the earth.
Leeuwin Estate is one of Margaret River’s benchmark producers, best known for wines that combine precision, polish and a strong sense of place. The Siblings range offers a more open and approachable expression of the estate’s style, while still carrying the same balance and finesse that define the house. In Shiraz, that translates beautifully, a wine that feels generous and expressive, but always fresh, measured and distinctly Margaret River.
