2021 Dillons Point Sauvignon Blanc, Saint Clair

Marlborough, New Zealand

The 2021 Dillons Point Sauvignon Blanc bursts from the glass with that unmistakable Marlborough energy, vibrant gooseberry, fresh passionfruit and zesty lime zest leap forward, joined by subtle hints of crushed herbs and green chilli leaf. There’s a bright clarity to the aromatics, with a chalky mineral edge that hints at the vineyard’s coastal terroir and gives the wine a crisp, lively personality before the first sip.

On the palate it’s all precision and freshness. The acidity snaps clean, lifting flavours of ripe tropical melon, citrus pith and fresh cut herbs, while a thread of saline minerality runs through to the finish. Light-bodied but layered, the wine offers juicy fruit weight without losing that pure, steely backbone so characteristic of northern Marlborough Sauvignon.

This Sauvignon Blanc is the kind you reach for when seafood lands on the table, when oysters glisten on ice, or when a bright green salad simply calls for something sharp, crisp and joyous. Cool, invigorating and full of Marlborough sunshine, Dillons Point delivers Sauvignon Blanc at its most vivid and delicious.

Neal and Judy Ibbotson were pioneers in the Marlborough wine industry, first planting vineyards in the valley in 1978 and then establishing Saint Clair Family Estate in 1994. They own 160 hectares of vineyard in 10 different Marlborough locations chosen specifically for the attributes of their individual "terroir" and ability to produce top quality grapes. Neal Ibbotson combines his extensive expertise in viticulture with the talent of one of New Zealand's leading winemaking teams. The vines are sustainably cultivated and the estate holds the Sustainable Wines of New Zealand certification. Since 1994, when wines from the first vintage all won medals including gold, the name Saint Clair has been synonymous with quality and its award-winning record continues today. This is a sentiment shared by Bob Campbell MW, who says “Saint Clair now makes the country’s and perhaps the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc”.
