2020 Barolo Cerequio DOCG, Vietti *Rehoboam - 5L*
Barolo, Piedmont, Italy
The Silk Throne in Rehoboam
This is Barolo with theatre, perfume and serious aristocratic calm. In Rehoboam, Cerequio becomes a centrepiece of real grandeur, the kind of bottle that changes the pace of a room before the cork is even drawn. It opens with red cherry, ripe strawberry, plum, rose and violet, before deeper notes of mint, liquorice, cinnamon, balsamic spice, tobacco and crushed stone begin to gather.
The palate is elegant, layered and beautifully commanding, with fine Nebbiolo tannins carrying red fruit, orange peel, savoury spice and mineral detail. The 2020 vintage brings a little generosity and warmth, while Vietti keeps the wine lifted, precise and long. In large format, it feels built for patience, celebration and the sort of table that deserves a little ceremony.
For when the occasion calls for Barolo with scale, grace and a very long memory.
Pairs with truffle risotto, roast duck, braised beef, wild mushroom tajarin, game, aged parmesan, slow-cooked lamb, or a long dinner that deserves a centrepiece.
If this wine were… a throne, it would be carved from old walnut, draped in deep red silk and carried into the room only when everyone was ready.
Vietti is one of Piemonte’s great historic producers, based in Castiglione Falletto and admired for its pioneering role in single-vineyard Barolo. It's 2020 Cerequio is Barolo DOCG, made from 100% Nebbiolo from the historic Cerequio MGA, with Vietti’s parcel located in the municipality of Barolo on limestone and clay-rich soils. It captures the estate’s signature balance of tradition, precision, artistry and deep respect for the great crus of the Langhe.
