2020 Barolo Cerequio DOCG, Vietti *Jeroboam*
Barolo, Piedmont, Italy
The Silk Throne in Jeroboam
This is Barolo with fragrance, grandeur and a beautifully poised sense of occasion. In Jeroboam, Cerequio becomes more than a bottle: it becomes the centre of the room. It opens with red cherry, ripe strawberry, plum, rose and violet, before deeper notes of mint, liquorice, cinnamon, balsamic spice, tobacco and crushed stone begin to unfurl.
The palate is elegant, layered and quietly commanding, with fine Nebbiolo tannins carrying red fruit, orange peel, savoury spice and mineral detail. The 2020 vintage brings generosity and warmth, while Vietti keeps everything lifted, precise and long. In this format, it feels made for patience, celebration and the kind of table that deserves ceremony.
For when the bottle needs to bring theatre, beauty and a very long memory.
Pairs with truffle risotto, roast duck, braised beef, wild mushroom tajarin, game, aged parmesan, slow-cooked lamb, or a dinner that deserves a centrepiece.
If this wine were… a throne, it would be carved from old walnut, draped in deep red silk and carried into the room only when everyone was ready.
Vietti is one of Piemonte’s great historic producers, based in Castiglione Falletto and admired for its pioneering role in single-vineyard Barolo. It's 2020 Cerequio is Barolo DOCG, made from 100% Nebbiolo from the historic Cerequio MGA, with Vietti’s parcel located in the municipality of Barolo on limestone and clay-rich soils. It captures the estate’s signature balance of tradition, precision, artistry and deep respect for the great crus of the Langhe
