2023 '1753' Grenache Sans Sulfites, Château de Campuget
Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Vivid ruby in the glass, this sulphite-free Grenache hums with life and lift. The nose bursts with red cherry, crushed raspberry, and wild herbs, touched by hints of rose petal and warm spice. On the palate, it’s bright and supple, all juicy fruit and soft texture, with fine, silky tannins and a freshness that feels effortless. There’s a natural purity here, a sense of fruit unmasked, leading to a smooth, lightly spiced finish that lingers with quiet grace. Honest, vibrant, and disarmingly elegant.
For when: you want to pour something easy, natural, and a little bit daring.
Pairs with: grilled vegetables, charcuterie, or roast chicken with herbs.
If this wine were a conversation, it’d be the one that flows without pause.
Château de Campuget, founded in 1942, lies just 15 kilometres south of Nîmes, in the heart of the Costières de Nîmes appellation, one of the southern Rhône’s most sun-kissed yet windswept regions. The estate’s galet-strewn soils, smooth, rounded pebbles deposited by the Rhône millennia ago, act as natural heat retainers, ripening fruit to perfection while ensuring deep root hydration.
Under the direction of Frank-Lin Dalle, Campuget combines sustainable viticulture with forward-thinking innovation. The ‘1753’ Grenache Sans Sulfites comes from the château’s best plots, crafted without added sulphur to showcase the variety’s truest character. The 2023 vintage captures that spirit beautifully, pure, fresh, and expressive, a wine that celebrates both the land and the freedom of minimal intervention.
