2023 Tiritiri Pinot Gris, Neudorf
Nelson, New Zealand
āSunlit Silkā
This is Pinot Gris with a wink and a whisper. The 2023 Tiritiri bursts from the glass with white pepper, daffodil and ripe pear, followed by notes of nectarine and summer orchard fruit that feel bright and inviting. There is a gentle floral lift, a touch of savoury steel in the background, and just enough acidity to keep everything lively without stealing the spotlight.
On the palate, it is all about texture. Rich, rounded and beautifully weighted, it glides with a silky viscosity that feels indulgent yet stays wonderfully clean. Wild fermentation brings depth and nuance, while a small portion aged in neutral puncheon adds quiet structure. The finish is fresh, subtly savoury and quietly persistent, the kind of wine that empties the glass faster than you intended.
For when you want something generous but still crisp and composed.
Pairs with pork belly, Thai salads, creamy cheeses or long lunches in warm light.
If this wine were a mood, it would be late afternoon sun stretching across the table, relaxed and impossible to resist.
Producer
Neudorf was founded in 1978 by Tim and Judy Finn, pioneers of the Nelson wine scene and early advocates of sustainable winegrowing in New Zealand. Today their daughter Rosie works alongside winemaker Todd Stevens and viticulturist Stef Brockley to continue the estateās focus on sustainability and precision. Tiritiri, meaning to grow, cultivate or share in Reo Maori, comes from sun drenched north-facing slopes near the Home Vineyard. With solar-powered operations and organically certified estate blocks, Neudorf crafts wines that combine generosity of fruit with clarity and quiet refinement.
