2023 Narince Chardonnay, Kuzubağ
Aegean Islands, Turkey
The Denizli Golden Thread
This is Turkish white wine with freshness, texture and a lovely meeting of local character and familiar polish. A blend of Narince and Chardonnay, it opens with yellow apple, quince, lemon peel and pear, before softer notes of white flowers, gentle spice, butter and a touch of cream begin to appear.
The palate is fresh, rounded and quietly creamy, with vibrant acidity carrying yellow fruit, citrus and quince into a clean, enjoyable finish. Narince gives lift, herbs and Turkish identity, while Chardonnay adds texture and a little golden softness. It is bright enough for seafood, but generous enough for a proper dinner table.
For when you want a white wine with freshness, texture and a story beyond the usual suspects.
Pairs with grilled sea bass, roast chicken, prawns, courgette fritters, feta salads, lemony pasta, mezze, or cauliflower cheese with a little restraint.
Kuzubağ is based in Çal, Denizli, in Turkey’s inner Aegean, with winemaker Semril Zorlu focused on showing the potential of the local terroir through grapes grown in the region. The estate farms 34 hectares that are certified organic, with a further 16 hectares in conversion, and its wines combine indigenous Turkish varieties with carefully chosen international grapes to create bottles with both regional identity and modern polish.
