2023 Krakhuna, Vachnadziani Winery

Imereti, Georgia

The Imereti Silver Thread

This is Georgian white wine with freshness, texture and a lovely saline flicker. Made from 100% Krakhuna grown in Imereti, it opens with lemon, ripe pear, green apple and delicate stone fruit, before herbal notes and a gentle mineral edge begin to appear. It is dry, bright and quietly aromatic, with a clean mountain-river feel running through the glass.

The palate is crisp, clear and refreshing, with citrus, pear, herbs and a salty finish giving it both lift and character. There is a little texture from time on fine lees, but the overall mood is lively, precise and very easy to pour.

For when you want a white wine with freshness, discovery and a proper Georgian accent.
Pairs with grilled fish, salmon with herbs, seafood pasta, chicken salads, khachapuri, soft cheeses, mezze, or lemony roast vegetables.
If this wine were… a thread, it would be silver running through Imereti stone, cool, bright and catching the light with every turn.

Vachnadziani Winery is one of Georgia’s historic producers, established in 1953 and based in Kakheti, while also working with fruit from regions including Imereti. K'AVSHIRI is a truly extraordinary project, uniting five years of work by British former wine critic and author of over 25 books, Robert Joseph, and Vladimer Kublashvili, highly experienced wine judge and chief winemaker for Winery Khareba one of Georgia's leading wine companies. The seeds of K'AVSHIRI date back to 1988 when Robert Joseph made his first trip to Georgia, then still part of the Soviet Union. He was fascinated by the history, language, architecture, cuisine and wines unlike anything he had tasted before. In 2018, after several further visits, Robert Joseph met Kublashvili and was immediately struck by his talent and imagination. While tasting wines from indigenous and often rare Georgian grapes from Kakheti and Imereti, the two began to imagine the creation of a very special wine.

Cold maceration took place over four hours to extract the delicate aromatics, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of 16°C, lasting two weeks.
The wine was rested on its fine lees for 10 days, imparting texture and complexity.
