2023 Grüner Veltliner Loibner Vinothekfüllung, Weingut Knoll
Wachau, Austria
Golden Reserve
This is one of Knoll’s great Grüner Veltliners: powerful, deeply textured and unmistakably Wachau. It opens with ripe pear, yellow apple, peach and exotic fruit, then moves into citrus peel, white pepper, dried herbs, honeyed spice and a long, stony mineral line. There is real Smaragd weight here, but it is carried with brightness and precision.
The palate is full, concentrated and beautifully controlled, with ripe orchard fruit, savoury spice and a salty, mineral finish that seems to go on and on. It has richness without heaviness, depth without excess and that classic Knoll ability to feel both grand and exact. This is Grüner Veltliner with serious presence, built for food now and years of graceful ageing.
For when you want Austrian white wine with power, polish and collector-level pedigree.
Pairs with roast pork, schnitzel, smoked trout, scallops, veal, chicken with herbs, asparagus, mushroom dishes, or hard alpine cheese.
Weingut Knoll is one of the Wachau’s defining estates, based in Unterloiben and revered for white wines of precision, structure and longevity. The family cultivates around 16 hectares, including famous terraces such as Loibenberg, Kellerberg, Pfaffenberg and Schütt, producing Riesling and Grüner Veltliner that are clear, mineral-rich and often at their best after years in the bottle. The Vinothekfüllung bottling is a particularly intense expression, with selected Grüner Veltliner fruit from key Knoll sites including Kreutles, Loibenberg and Kellerberg.
