2023 Chardonnay, Château Oumsiyat
Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
The Bekaa Valley Golden White
This is Lebanese Chardonnay with brightness, mountain freshness and a soft tropical glow. It opens with ripe peach, pineapple, citrus peel and yellow apple, before softer notes of pear, blossom and a gentle creamy texture begin to appear. It is clean, zesty and unoaked in feel, letting the fruit and the altitude do the work.
The palate is fresh, rounded and refreshing, with peach, tropical fruit and lemony acidity running into a clean, lively finish. There is enough softness to make it generous, but the mood stays crisp and bright, giving a Chardonnay that feels sunny, easy and distinctly Lebanese.
For when you want Chardonnay with warmth, freshness and a proper sense of place.
Pairs with grilled chicken, prawns, seafood pasta, lemon roast vegetables, mezze, soft cheeses, fattoush, or poached chicken in a creamy white wine sauce.
If this wine were… a light, it would be golden afternoon sun over the Bekaa Valley, bright on the hills with cool mountain air still moving through the vines.
Château Oumsiyat is run by the Bou Sleiman family, with Joseph Bou Sleiman combining local tradition and modern winemaking from the family’s winery in Mtein. The estate’s vineyards sit over 1,000 metres above sea level in the Bekaa Valley, between Mount Lebanon and the Anti-Lebanon Mountains, where altitude, microclimate and soils help create wines with freshness and a Mediterranean feel.
