2023 Blanc de Blanc, Château Oumsiyat
Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
The Bekaa Valley White Lantern
This is Lebanese white wine with brightness, charm and a clean mountain glow. It opens with green pear, citrus peel, yellow apple and tropical fruit, before soft florals and a gently zesty lift begin to appear. It is fresh, easy and quietly aromatic, the kind of white that feels instantly refreshing without losing its sense of place.
The palate is crisp, light and mouth-watering, with pear, lemon, tropical fruit and a clean, zesty finish. There is warmth in the fruit, but the high-altitude Lebanese setting gives the wine freshness and balance, making it a lovely bottle for seafood, salads and relaxed Mediterranean food.
For when you want a white wine that feels fresh, sunny and just a little unexpected.
Pairs with grilled fish, chicken salads, prawns, mezze, lemony vegetables, goat’s cheese, hummus, tabbouleh, or a simple seafood risotto.
If this wine were… a lantern, it would be glowing softly over a Bekaa Valley table, with citrus, herbs and warm evening air all around it.
Château Oumsiyat is run by Joseph Bou Sleiman and the Bou Sleiman family, whose wine heritage spans four generations. The winery is based in Mtein, with grapes grown in a 78-hectare vineyard over 1,000 metres above sea level in the Bekaa Valley, between Mount Lebanon and the Anti-Lebanon Mountains. The estate brings together Lebanese tradition and modern winemaking, producing expressive wines with freshness, balance and a distinctly Mediterranean feel.
