Passionfruit, grapefruit and crisp green apple lead the nose, followed by blackcurrant leaf, gooseberry, fresh snow pea and a cool salty edge. It feels vivid and expressive, but with Saint Clair’s usual polish and precision.

On the palate, it is rich, fresh and mouth-watering, with tropical fruit, white stone fruit and citrus carried by crisp acidity and a clean mineral finish. The Lower Wairau fruit gives generous flavour and aromatic intensity, while the dry, unoaked style keeps everything sharp, bright and refreshing. Saint Clair Family Estate is one of Marlborough’s most trusted names, founded by Neal and Judy Ibbotson in 1994. The family’s connection with the region goes back even further, with vineyard planting in Marlborough from the late 1970s, giving Saint Clair deep roots in one of New Zealand’s most famous wine landscapes.

The estate has built its reputation on expressive, carefully selected fruit and a clear understanding of Marlborough’s sub-regions. Sauvignon Blanc remains central to the story, from bright everyday releases to more focused single-block and reserve bottlings. The house style is clean, aromatic and precise, with strong fruit purity and the crisp acidity that makes Marlborough Sauvignon so distinctive.

The Origin range sits in a sweet spot: polished and expressive, but still immediately enjoyable. The 2024 'Origin' Sauvignon Blanc is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, with fruit sourced from selected vineyards located predominantly in the Lower Wairau sub-region. Each block was harvested at optimum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness, then quickly transported to the winery and pressed immediately to minimise skin contact.

After cold settling, each batch was fermented at cool temperatures using selected yeasts. The parcels were kept separate and assessed for quality, with only the strongest components chosen for the final Origin blend. The wine is unoaked, sealed under screwcap and listed as vegan friendly.

The result is bright, dry and ready to enjoy, with passionfruit, grapefruit, green apple, blackcurrant and salty minerality carried by crisp acidity. It is made for freshness and aromatic impact, so drink it young while the fruit is at its most vivid. Alcohol is 13%, residual sugar s 2.66g/l, acidity is 7.3g/l and pH is 3.28
