2024 Sancerre ‘Cuvée Florès’, Domaine Vincent Pinard
Loire Valley, France
Chalk Bloom
Domaine Vincent Pinard’s 2024 Cuvée Florès is Sancerre with brightness, clarity and a beautifully chiselled mineral line. Grown around Bué, one of the appellation’s great villages, it opens with lime, grapefruit, mandarin peel and white flowers, followed by chalk dust, citrus blossom and a subtle saline edge.
On the palate, it is vivid, pure and finely drawn, with crisp Sauvignon Blanc fruit carried by a clean limestone snap. There is energy here, but also texture, giving the wine more depth than a simple citrus-led Sancerre. The finish is long, floral and stony, with that cool, mouth-watering freshness that makes great Loire Sauvignon feel effortless.
For when
The seafood is cold, the glass is crisp, and lunch suddenly feels very civilised.
Pairs with
Oysters, crab, prawns, goat’s cheese, asparagus, smoked trout, sushi, grilled sea bass, lemon chicken or fresh herb salads.
Domaine Vincent Pinard is one of the benchmark names of Sancerre, based in Bué and now guided by Florent and Clément Pinard. Florès is a brilliant introduction to the domaine’s style: precise, floral, mineral and quietly intense, with enough generosity to charm but the tension to remind you this is serious Loire Sauvignon from a serious address.
