2024 Appassimento Gold Release, Ca Vittoria
Salento, Puglia, Italy
Velvet After Sunset
A rich, indulgent red from the sun-soaked vineyards of Puglia. Made using the traditional appassimento method, where grapes partially dry on the vine to concentrate flavour, this blend of Negroamaro, Merlot and Primitivo bursts with ripe plum, dark cherry and raisin notes. Hints of sweet spice, cocoa and vanilla glide through a plush, velvety palate. Full-bodied and generous, it finishes smooth, warm and deeply satisfying.
For when: comfort food and long evenings at the table.
Pairs with: slow cooked ragu, grilled meats or aged hard cheeses.
If this wine were a place: a candlelit trattoria somewhere in southern Italy.
Ca’ Vittoria crafts classic southern Italian wines that celebrate the warmth and generosity of Puglia. Their Appassimento wines are made using partially dried grapes, a traditional technique that intensifies flavour and richness. Sourced from vineyards across the Salento peninsula, where warm Mediterranean sunshine and late harvests allow grapes to reach full ripeness, the wines capture the region’s signature style, bold fruit, smooth texture and irresistible drinkability.
