NV White Port, Conceito
Duoro, Portugal
Conceito Vinhos is a dynamic, family-owned winery based in the Douro Superior, Portugal’s most remote and elevated subregion of the Douro Valley. Led by visionary winemaker Rita Marques, Conceito blends old-vine heritage with a forward-thinking, terroir-focused approach. The estate farms organically across rugged, high-altitude vineyards planted on granite and schist soils, producing wines and Ports that are fresh, precise, and deeply rooted in place. Conceito has quickly become one of Portugal’s most exciting and internationally respected producers.
The NV White Port is a striking example of Conceito’s innovative style, crafted from traditional white grape varieties such as Rabigato, Códega, Viosinho, and Gouveio, and aged in old oak casks using oxidative methods to build character and complexity.
In the glass, it reveals a pale golden hue and a captivating bouquet of pear, dried apricot, orange peel, and almond, layered with subtle hints of vanilla, honey, and wild herbs. The palate is silky yet refreshing, with a delicate sweetness balanced by vibrant acidity and a long, gently nutty finish. There’s a mineral edge that adds lift and precision, making it lively, elegant, and incredibly versatile.
Whether served chilled as an apéritif, paired with soft cheeses, or mixed into a refined Port tonic, Conceito’s NV White Port is a modern take on a classic style, thoughtfully crafted, beautifully balanced, and endlessly expressive. A perfect introduction to the elegance of white Port, and a standout example of what this category can be in the hands of a masterful winemaker.

Conceito Vinhos is one of Portugal’s most innovative and terroir-driven wine projects, based in the rugged, high-altitude vineyards of the Douro Superior. Founded by Carla Ferreira and led by her daughter, the talented and internationally respected winemaker Rita Marques, Conceito brings a modern, independent spirit to a region deeply rooted in tradition. The name “Conceito” means “concept” in Portuguese—a reflection of the estate’s mission to create wines with identity, precision, and a true sense of place.
Farming organically across over 83 hectares of vineyards, Conceito focuses on indigenous Portuguese grape varieties, with a mix of very old vines and carefully selected new plantings. The vineyards, planted on a mix of granite and schist soils at elevations up to 600 meters, benefit from cooler temperatures and wide diurnal shifts, resulting in wines of freshness, elegance, and aromatic purity.
Rita Marques, a trained enologist with experience in Bordeaux, South Africa, and New Zealand, brings a global outlook and exacting standards to every bottle. Whether crafting Douro reds and whites, mineral-driven wines from the Vinho Verde region, or refined Ports, Conceito is known for its low-intervention approach, native yeast fermentations, and careful oak usage.
From flagship field blends and old-vine bottlings to vibrant white Port and modern sparkling wines, Conceito represents the new face of Portuguese wine, bold in vision, respectful of heritage, and uncompromising in quality.
