XO 15 Year Old Cognac, Frapin, 70cl (Gift Box)

Cognac, France

The Cellar Duet

Deeply layered and quietly powerful, Frapin’s 15 Year Old opens with dried fruit, fragrant tea and seasoned oak, followed by vanilla and dried flowers. Toasted bread adds a savoury dimension beneath the fruit, while a subtle freshness keeps the bouquet lively. It is a Cognac that invites exploration, revealing the interplay of wood, fruit and floral detail as it rests in the glass.

The palate is generous and richly textured, with the concentration of cask-strength bottling giving the flavours definition and reach. Dried fruit and oak lead into a sustained, spicy finish, supported by a supple mouthfeel that carries the alcohol comfortably. Mature and ready to savour, it makes a rewarding choice for those who enjoy depth and complexity in their spirits. The gift-box presentation gives this distinctive XO an occasion to match its character.

For when: A milestone deserves something with fifteen years of stories to tell.

Pairs with: Walnut tart, baked apples with golden raisins, dark chocolate pralines, fig and almond cake, aged Comté or toasted brioche with caramelised pears.

This 15-year-old brings together eaux-de-vie matured in Frapin’s humid and dry cellars. Each environment contributes something different: the humid cellars develop softness and breadth, while the dry cellars bring finesse. Blending the two creates a particularly complete picture of the estate’s approach to ageing.

Frapin’s story begins in 1270, when the family established its roots in the Charente. From generations of vine growing came a distinguished tradition of distilling, centred on Château Fontpinot in Segonzac. Today, the family-owned house continues to grow, distil and mature its Cognacs entirely on its own estate.
The vineyards extend across 240 hectares in Grande Champagne, Cognac’s Premier Cru. Chalk and limestone soils help manage water availability, while the oceanic climate supports the development of Ugni Blanc grapes with the acidity needed for distillation. This close connection between vineyard and cellar is fundamental to Frapin’s identity.
Cellar master Patrice Piveteau combines traditional distillation on the lees with careful management of the estate’s contrasting ageing environments. The house’s commitment to its land also includes biodiversity initiatives and Haute Valeur Environnementale Level 3 certification. Its distinctive strength lies in overseeing every stage, from the growing season to the final blend.

The base wine is made from 100% Ugni Blanc grown on Frapin’s estate in Grande Champagne. After harvesting and pressing, the juice ferments in tanks before being prepared for distillation.
Double distillation takes place in traditional Charentais copper pot stills. Frapin distils on the fine lees, retaining the fermentation sediment to contribute aromatic depth, texture and persistence to the eaux-de-vie.
The Cognac combines eaux-de-vie aged in oak in both humid and dry cellars, carrying a 15-year age statement. It is bottled at its natural cask strength of 45.3%, without chill filtration, preserving its aromatic richness and substantial texture. All harvesting, distillation and ageing take place on the estate.
Alcohol: 45.3%. Age: 15 years. Bottle size: 70cl. Cask strength. Non-chill-filtered. Vegetarian and vegan.
