2022 Pinot Noir Gran Reserva, Viña Echeverría
Colchagua Valley, Chile
“Silk with a Tan”
This is Pinot Noir with one foot in Burgundy and the other firmly in the Chilean sunshine. The 2022 Gran Reserva opens with wild strawberry, black cherry and raspberry, layered with soft hints of mocha, dark chocolate and gentle spice. There is an immediate sense of warmth and generosity, but the cool Casablanca influence keeps everything lifted and refined.
On the palate, it is round, smooth and beautifully easy to like. The fruit feels supple and juicy, with red berries and darker cherry notes wrapped in a subtle touch of oak that adds polish rather than weight. Refreshing acidity runs through the middle, giving the wine shape and brightness, while the finish is soft, balanced and quietly savoury. It is elegant, expressive and just plush enough to feel indulgent.
For when you want Pinot Noir that is comforting, polished and ready to please.
Pairs with duck, mushroom risotto, roast chicken or a cheeseboard that leans earthy rather than sharp.
Producer
Viña Echeverría’s Gran Reserva range leans into a more European style of winemaking, using oak, French varieties and careful élevage to create wines with extra depth and complexity, while still holding onto that bright New World fruit. Although labelled under the broader Colchagua banner, this Pinot Noir comes from the cool-climate Casablanca Valley, where Pacific breezes, morning fog and the influence of the Humboldt Current create ideal conditions for finely balanced Pinot. The result is a wine that brings together coastal freshness, ripe fruit and a polished, generous finish.
