2022 Omega Carmenère, Viña VIK
Cachapoal Valley, Chile
“Velvet Gold”
This is Carmenère with polish, perfume and real precision. The 2022 Omega opens with layers of ripe red cherry, plum and blackberry, wrapped in vanilla, sweet spice and a gentle herbal lift that keeps everything vivid and composed. There is richness here, but it arrives with finesse rather than force.
On the palate, it is supple and beautifully drawn. Carmenère leads the way with its trademark softness, bringing velvety tannins, dark fruit and warm spice, while small portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah add shape, freshness and quiet depth. Twelve months in French oak gives the wine a fine satin texture and subtle polish, never obscuring the fruit. The result is elegant, layered and expressive, with a long, smooth finish that lingers on spice, ripe berry fruit and a whisper of vanilla.
For when you want a red that feels generous, polished and effortlessly impressive.
Pairs with grilled lamb, smoky aubergine, steak with chimichurri or slow-cooked dishes with warmth and spice.
If this wine were a setting, it would be golden evening light over the Andes, luxurious, calm and impossible to rush.
Producer
Viña VIK was founded in Millahue, Cachapoal Valley, after extensive scientific study to identify an exceptional site in the Andean foothills. Today the estate spans thousands of hectares, with 327 hectares planted across 12 valleys, where a wide range of soils and exposures help shape layered, site-specific wines. The winery follows a minimal intervention philosophy, with hand harvesting, natural fermentations and careful parcel selection, while the estate’s global profile has continued to rise, including recognition as The World’s Best Vineyard 2025 and Best Vineyard in South America 2025 in the World’s Best Vineyards awards.
