Ten Minutes by Tractor needs little introduction, nor does the man in charge, Martin Spedding. A gently-spoken man with a background in finance and IT, in 2002, he finally acknowledged the fact that his true passion lay in wine. Despite his origins in New South Wales, he simply couldnā€™t get enough of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and would travel down to Victoria to immerse himself in Australiaā€™s heartland of these noble varieties. In 2003, he visited one of his favourite small wineries on Mornington Peninsula and was delighted to discover that it was for sale. Without a momentā€™s hesitation, he snapped it up, and so began Martinā€™s journey with Ten Minutes by Tractor.

Complexity is always the name of the game with the single vineyard ā€˜Wallisā€™ Chardonnay, and the 2022 is another exceptional example.Ā  In the glass, spice and floral notes dominate the elegant nose while a soft flint edge invites you to dive deep into a complex structure with hints of oyster shell and cumquat.

en Minutes by Tractor started in 1997 with three vineyards in Main Ridge, all ten minutes by tractor apart. Over the past 18 years, Martin and Karen Spedding have added four more vineyards that have a diverse range of microclimates from across the Mornington Peninsula. Each of these vineyard sites features different aspects, slopes, soils, altitude and influence of the cool maritime breezes that wind their way through the valleys.
This terroir and sense of place explain everything about their wines. Cool places. Beautiful places. Places that are defined by the wines they make and which can seem worlds apart. The refinement and vibrant acidity of Wallis; the elegance and poise of McCutcheon; the alluring aromatics and fine structure of Judd; the power and fruit purity of Coolart Road.
Each vineyard is intimately linked to its place. These little differences; in soil, slope, aspects and all the other things that make their vineyards distinct mean that while they may be ten minutes by tractor from each other, they are a world apart.

Handpicked and whole bunch pressed to small and large format oak. The juice then underwent a wild yeast fermentation and natural malolactic fermentation (68%). After 10 months of oak maturation, the wine was bottled and filtered.
