2023 Saint-Veran Tradition, Domaine Des Deux Roches
Mâconnais, Burgundy, France
Pale gold with a green shimmer, this Saint-Véran captures everything we love about southern Burgundy: brightness, texture, and effortless charm. The nose opens with white peach, lemon zest, and acacia blossom, lifted by hints of crushed stone and fresh almonds. On the palate, it’s supple yet precise, with juicy orchard fruit framed by a touch of creaminess and a mineral backbone that brings balance and drive. The finish is clean, graceful, and beautifully persistent.
For when: you want something classic but quietly confident.
Pairs with: roast chicken, seared salmon, or creamy pasta with herbs.
If this wine were a mood, it’d be Sunday lunch with the windows open and jazz on in the background.
From the limestone slopes surrounding Davayé, the Tradition cuvée embodies the heart of Domaine des Deux Roches: purity, precision, and an unwavering respect for terroir. Sustainably farmed Chardonnay grapes are gently pressed, fermented at cool temperatures, and aged on fine lees to build texture and complexity without heaviness. The 2023 vintage is generous yet perfectly poised - sunlit fruit, mineral clarity, and the signature finesse that makes this domaine a benchmark for Saint-Véran.

Nestled in the rolling limestone hills of Davayé, just west of the Roche de Solutré, Domaine des Deux Roches is a leading estate in the Mâconnais, celebrated for crafting Chardonnays of purity, texture, and striking mineral character. Founded in the 1980s by Jean-Luc and Jean-Christophe Terrier, the domaine takes its name from the two iconic limestone outcrops, Roche de Solutré and Roche de Vergisson, that define the local landscape and its soils.
With over 60 hectares of vineyards across Saint-Véran, Mâcon-Villages, Pouilly-Fuissé, and Viré-Clessé, the Terriers have championed sustainable viticulture and meticulous parcel selection, capturing the nuanced expression of each terroir. The winemaking philosophy blends traditional Burgundian methods with a modern eye for precision - gentle pressing, fermentation in stainless steel and oak, and extended lees ageing to enhance texture and complexity.
The resulting wines are elegant, luminous and mineral-driven, combining the generosity of southern Burgundy fruit with the finesse and tension of the Côte d’Or. Domaine des Deux Roches continues to define what the modern Mâconnais does best - Chardonnay with soul, structure, and a sense of place.
