2025 Malagousia “A.Muse”, Muses Estate

Valley of the Muses, Greece

Peach Blossom

Bright, aromatic and wonderfully inviting, A.Muse opens with ripe peach, apricot and juicy melon, followed by bergamot, pineapple and delicate white flowers. There is an exuberant, sun-drenched quality to the fruit, balanced by a subtle citrus lift that keeps everything feeling fresh.

The palate is light, smooth and beautifully poised, with succulent stone fruit and exotic flavours carried by lively acidity. A gentle hint of spice adds definition before a clean, elegant finish that leaves the mouth refreshed and ready for another glass. Expressive without becoming overpowering, this is an effortlessly charming introduction to one of Greece’s most distinctive white varieties.

For when: The sun is shining, and something deliciously uncomplicated is required.

Pairs with: Grilled prawns, calamari, sushi, Greek salads, vegetable filo pies, lemon-roasted chicken or pasta with a light herb sauce.

The fruit comes from the Valley of the Muses at the foot of Mount Helicon in Central Greece. Vineyards planted between 450 and 550 metres benefit from generous sunshine and cooling mountain air, allowing Malagousia to develop its naturally expressive aromatics while retaining freshness and acidity.

His passion for wine and the millennia-old winemaking traditions of his homeland, led Nikolaos Zaharias to create a small winery in 1946 in Askri, in Central Greece, fulfilling his life-long dream. In 1967, his son, Athanasios Zaharias, entered the family business and brought with him dynamic and forward-thinking ideas, and gradually they transformed the small artisanal winery into a modern winery. In 2005, the year when ‘Muses Estate’ was created, it was time for the third generation Nikos, Stelios and Panayiotis, to take their place in the family business. Their skills, scientific knowledge and youthful ideas, combined with the family tradition and experience further enriched Muses Estate. From their vines grown on the slopes of the Valley of the Muses, at the foot of Mount Helicon, they aim to produce wines that are in perfect harmony with the ecosystem, and are representative of the historic terroir, as well as the family itself. They succeed: their exquisite wines are vibrant with mountain freshness that truly evoke the senses.

Muse is made from 100% Malagousia grown in the Valley of the Muses. The vineyards are densely planted and trained on double-cordon Royat systems, with the fruit cultivated according to integrated agricultural principles.

Following harvest, the grapes undergo ten hours of cold skin contact at 8°C in an oxygen-free environment. Fermentation then takes place at a controlled temperature of 17°C, preserving Malagousia’s exotic fruit, citrus and floral aromatics. The wine remains entirely unoaked to maintain its bright, fresh and expressive character.

Alcohol: 12.5%. Unoaked. Vegan. Serve at 8 to 10°C. Recommended drinking window: 2026 to 2029.
