2014 Pb Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Cellar Release, Jim Barry
Clare Valley, Australia
The Winemaker’s Indulgence
A classic Australian blend that shows the magic of Shiraz and Cabernet together. Deep ruby in the glass, it opens with blackberry and blackcurrant layered with dark mint chocolate, roasting herbs and a hint of savoury spice. The palate is vibrant and structured, with juicy dark berries wrapped in fine, firm tannins. Shiraz brings richness and generosity, while Cabernet provides backbone and length, finishing long with bright fruit and gentle oak toast.
For when: you want something bold, balanced and quietly serious.
Pairs with: roast lamb, slow braised beef, or rosemary potatoes.
If this wine were a moment: the last glass at the table when conversation runs long.
“I have always been fascinated by the way Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon interact when blended, the sum becoming greater than that of its parts. This wine shows the richness and generosity of Shiraz, with a backbone of structure provided by the Cabernet to ensure a long future. I first made this wine in 2002 as a personal bottling, and my enjoyment of the blend has encouraged me to repeat the indulgence.”
Peter Barry, PB Winemaker
This Cellar Release reflects that philosophy perfectly. A blend created from the Barry family’s Clare Valley vineyards, it captures both the generosity of Shiraz and the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, a pairing that has long defined some of Australia’s most compelling reds.
