2022 ‘As Bravas’ Lunlunta Garnacha, El Enemigo
Lunlunta, Maipú Valley, Mendoza, Argentina
*En-Primeur offer, wines arrive November 2026*
Offered in the UK for the first time, El Enemigo’s 2022 As Bravas Garnacha feels like a variety reborn in Argentine light. Alejandro Vigil takes cuttings from Gredos in Spain and plants them in Lunlunta, bringing a fresh, pale, high-definition interpretation of Garnacha that sits far away from heaviness. The nose is beautifully atypical: roses, hops, dried flowers, red cherry, raspberry, blood orange, wild herbs and a faint stony edge.
On the palate, it is light, ethereal and thrillingly modern, with fine tannins, bright acidity and a graceful, almost weightless flow. There is red-fruit, floral lift, and savoury herb detail, but the magic is in the transparency: a Garnacha that feels Spanish in inspiration, Argentine in energy, and utterly contemporary in style.
For when
A rare new release that needs to be opened before everyone else catches on.
Pairs with
Roast duck, chargrilled lamb, jamón ibérico, mushroom rice, pork belly, grilled aubergine, chicken with paprika, hard cheeses or a full table of tapas.
El Enemigo is the cult project of Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil, two of Argentina’s most influential wine minds. As Bravas is an homage to the female spirit, its name means “the brave ones” in Galician and “the angry ones” in Portuguese. It honours courage, brilliance and resilience, while recognising anger as a force that, when channelled with purpose, can break silence and drive meaningful change. This Garnacha captures that spirit perfectly: brave, disruptive, elegant and quietly electric.
