A serious, richly expressive Barbera from one of Nizza’s great vineyard names. The 2016 La Court has the depth and polish of a wine made for the long table, opening with black cherry, blackberry and dark plum, then unfolding into violet, cocoa, coffee, liquorice and sweet spice. There is real power here, but also elegance, with Barbera’s natural freshness keeping everything lifted, vibrant and beautifully poised.
